The University of Alaska Anchorage Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs are planning a free dental services day on April 9, 2011.  This event is possible through the support of First National Bank, Alaska Dental Society, Alaska State Dental Hygienists Association, UAA Dental Hygiene Students, UAA Dental Assisting Students and the faculty and staff of the Dental Programs at UAA.

The event will target low to middle income individuals that do not have dental insurance and UAA students.  Possible services provided to adults include:  fillings, x-rays, exams and dental cleanings.  Possible services provided to children include:  sealants, x-rays, exams and dental cleanings.  All of the provided services will be free to the participants.  It is estimated that the event will be able to serve 100-125 people.  The clinic will be held in the Allied Health Science Building Dental Clinic on the UAA main campus from 9am tot 3:30 pm on Saturday, April 9th.

Please feel free to forward the information to those who may benefit or can assist others that may need these services including advocates for Anchorage children in cultural groups that have been identified through the Basic Screening Survey (Asian, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders) with untreated dental decay and lower rates of dental sealant placements.

The clinic is still looking for dentists to participate in the event.
