Carolyn Wilson

1943-2001

Carolyn Wilson, 58, died of cancer on October 27, 2001 at home. Carolyn was a friend, colleague and advocate to everyone working to improve services to vulnerable children and their families. She was especially committed advocate when children were impacted by disabilities from prenatal exposure to alcohol.

Carolyn and Arnold, her husband of 31 years, were both foster and adoptive parents. In addition to raising five children, they provided foster care services for over 17 years, specializing in care for babies with FASD and those affected by drugs. In her spare time, she was a trained Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) worker, providing advocacy services for children in court cases and a member of the special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) for the Anchorage School District. Carolyn was a charter member of the Anchorage Parent Education Group for families of Children with FASD/FAE, and was an active member for the past 10 years.
