Mission
To prevent all alcohol-related birth defects and to improve the delivery of services to those individuals already affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).
Alaska's FAS project is a comprehensive, integrated effort encompassing prevention of all fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD), intervention targeted to high-risk women, screening and diagnosis of children at risk of FAS/ARBD and improved service delivery to families/individuals affected by FASD.
The overriding focus for this project is to be multidisciplinary, culturally appropriate, and community-based. The approach takes direct aim at systems development, integration and change in an effort to coordinate existing systems and processes that now operate separately; to integrate service delivery and information management systems to the greatest possible extent; and to set up structures that will be self-sustaining into the future.
