Awareness Day 2004
U.S. Senate passes Senate Resolution 390 designating September 9th as National Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Day. Thank you to Senator Lisa Murkowski for taking the lead and making this a priority not just for Alaska, but for the nation.
On September 9, 2004 people around the world
will recognize the sixth annual International Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
(FAS) Awareness Day. As in past years, the DHSS Office of FAS is
encouraging communities across Alaska to use this day to promote awareness
of the effects of prenatal exposure to alcohol, to increase knowledge
about this lifelong disability, to send prevention messages about the
danger of drinking during pregnancy and to ensure that all babies are
born strong and healthy. A copy of our FAS Awareness Day Resource Kit
2003 is attached or visit www.fasday.com for more information.
