PROTECTIVE SERVICES

Adult Protective Services (APS) investigates reports of harm to vulnerable adults and arranges for necessary services for their protection. APS workers interview the vulnerable adult, family members, guardians, and other pertinent persons and agencies; make intake determinations and do care planning; take emergency action if appropriate; assess clients’ mental capacity; file guardianship and conservatorship petitions if appropriate; perform temporary case management and case consultation; arrange for general relief financial assistance and help clients locate assisted living homes; and provide other supportive services.

821 Adult Protective Services Intakes for FY2000 (increase of 53 over FY99) included:
433 female clients to 275 male clients (1.57 to 1)
