Priority activities

  • Hold regular Alaska Perinatal Advisory Committee meetings
  • Distribute perinatal information to health care providers and the public via list serves, printed materials, and other media
  • Lead the Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Initiative with monthly task force meetings to develop infant safe sleep policy, social marketing messages, and public and professional education pieces
  • Lead planning of Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Summit in September 2010
  • Participate in planning for a multi-agency maternal and child health conference in September 2010
  • Develop a perinatal mini-grant program
  • Collaborate with the Alaska Chronic Disease Prevention Section’s Tobacco Program to write a fact sheet on tobacco and pregnancy and to distribute provider education materials to perinatal health care providers
  • Collaborate with the Alaska Division of Behavioral Health on fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, including distribution of public education materials
  • Explore opportunities for funding to expand perinatal depression services
