Perinatal Health Program
Priority activities
- Hold regular Alaska Perinatal Advisory Committee meetings
- Distribute perinatal information to health care providers and the public via list serves, printed materials, and other media
- Lead the Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Initiative with monthly task force meetings to develop infant safe sleep policy, social marketing messages, and public and professional education pieces
- Lead planning of Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Summit in September 2010
- Participate in planning for a multi-agency maternal and child health conference in September 2010
- Develop a perinatal mini-grant program
- Collaborate with the Alaska Chronic Disease Prevention Section’s Tobacco Program to write a fact sheet on tobacco and pregnancy and to distribute provider education materials to perinatal health care providers
- Collaborate with the Alaska Division of Behavioral Health on fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, including distribution of public education materials
- Explore opportunities for funding to expand perinatal depression services
