Projects

Some of the Adolescent Health Program’s current projects (and plans for the future):

  • Community Needs Assessment in select communities in Alaska (with youth, parents and service providers)
  • Train the Trainer sessions with youth and youth service providers
  • Multi-topic workshops for parents, teachers, or anyone who works with youth
  • Relationship workshops for parents of adolescents with special needs
  • Mandatory reporter training for youth service providers
  • Media campaign on Healthy Relationships
  • Work with healthcare providers to promote screening youth for unhealthy relationships
  • Plan, support, and evaluate "Youth Development as a Teen Pregnancy Prevention Strategy" grants.  Currently, we are funding the Boys and Girls Club of Southcentral Alaska and the Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic
  • Manage an adolescent health list serv.

  • Youth Alliance for a Healthier Alaska
    (youth ages 14–18 years)
  • Lead On! for Peace and Equality in Alaska is a chance for youth leaders (ages 13–18) and community partners from across Alaska to come together and develop leadership skills to promote peace and equality in their own communities. It will take place October 4–6th in Girdwood, AK. Contact Kami Moore at kmoore@andvsa.org for more details.
