Protecting kids from their number one killer — unintentional injuries

Important Safety Tips

  • Always cross the street at crosswalks, never between cars.
  • Stop at the street and look left, right, and left again before crossing.
  • Wear reflectorized clothing or backpacks so that you can be seen in the dark.
  • Never approach animals that you don't know

Bike Safety Program

The National Safe Kids organization has begun a new bicycle safety program. Ready to Roll is a comprehensive program that includes a step-by-step guide to conducting a community-based wheel safety program. The goal of Ready to Roll is to reduce the incidence and severity of wheel-related injuries by increasing helmet use, promoting safe wheel-riding behaviors, and creating safer wheel-riding environments. You can access the Ready to Roll Program Guide by clicking on the bicycle icon below:

Walk Your Child to School program

The Walk Your Child to School program gives parents a chance to look at a small, but important, part of their child's school day. It gives kids a chance to be more physically active, practice safe pedestrian skills, and learn more about their environment.
