Welcome!
The Section includes a wide range of public health programs that are
administered by the following three program units:
-
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Unit engages
in myriad activities to ensure that qualified and properly equipped
emergency medical services personnel are available to respond
to the emergency medical needs of Alaska's citizens.
-
Injury Surveillance and Prevention (ISAP) Unit is charged with increasing public
awareness and actions on behalf of injury prevention, and encouraging
interventions statewide in injury prevention and control.
-
Alaska Trauma Data includes all injury deaths and hospital admissions. All injury prevention efforts begin by looking at the numbers — what injuries are occurring, when, where, how, why, and to whom.
The Section of Injury Prevention & Emergency Medical Services (IPEMS) programs address access to health care and some of the major causes of disease, injury, and disabilities affecting people in Alaska. We welcome comments that will assist us to improve services to Alaskans. Planning, implementation, and evaluation of IPEMS programs involves dedicated employees working with a large number of partner agencies, organizations, and individuals at federal, state, and local levels. IPEMS performs a wide range of services. These include:
-
Development of community health programs to help improve access to primary care among rural and underserved populations;
-
Injury prevention and surveillance;
-
Emergency medical services and trauma care systems development;
-
