Approved Clinics
In collaboration with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT), the DHSS Health Planning & Systems Development (HPSD) office maintains the list on this site. The list constitutes medical clinics deemed eligible by HPSD for further consideration by DOT for a "Day Medical Clinic" sign.

Day Medical Clinic Signs
The placing of a "Day Medical Clinic" sign is intended to enhance public safety by providing direction to medical clinics at locations when there are no nearby hospitals.
It is required that sign(s) which announce the location of a “Day Medical Clinic” must show the clinic’s business hours in order to avoid drawing people to closed facilities during an emergency.
Initial Approval
The following is a list of HPSD’s criteria for medical clinic review prior to sign consideration by DOT/PF
- First read the criteria of posting a roadside sign for “Day Medical Clinic”
- Next a short memo attesting to the compliance of DOT's criteria, signed by clinic director or administrator, must be sent to the attention of Robert Sewell. The best way to send the memo by e-mail with an attached PDF to Robert.Sewell@alaska.gov
- Prior to final approval, the clinic will be published to the approved clinic list.

Final Approval
If a clinic would like to have a sign posted it must be approved first towards meeting medical clinic operating standards by HPSD. After HPSD establishes eligibility, DOT will conduct its final approval process for sign eligibility. The contact person for final approval is:
- In the Central Region area (Anchorage, Mat-Su, Kodiak, Bethel, etc.) please contact the Permit Officer at (907) 269-0700.
- In the Southeast Region area (Juneau, Sitka, Petersburg, etc.) please contact Sheila Good, Permit Officer, at (907) 465-2838.
- In the Northern Region area (Fairbanks, Healy, Valdez, etc.) please contact the Permit Officer at (907) 451-5400.
