5 A Day for Better Health

What can help prevent diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure? Fruits and vegetables! The National Cancer Institute recommends eating 5 servings everyday for better health. Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables to get their many different benefits. Canned, frozen or fresh - it's the Alaskan way to 5 A Day!

Canned & Frozen Fruits and Vegetables Count, Too.

Many people think that only fresh produce counts as "healthy" fruits and vegetables. Studies show that canned and frozen fruits and vegetables have the same amount of nutrients as fresh and sometimes more. Canned and frozen produce is picked at its peak of ripeness and processed quickly, keeping all their nutrients. Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables everyday for better health. Canned, frozen or fresh - it's the Alaskan way to 5 A Day!

Canned & Frozen Fruits and Vegetables are Good for You.

Did you know that canned pumpkin has 20 times more vitamin A than fresh pumpkin? And canned tomatoes have more lycopene, a nutrient that can prevent certain types of cancer, than fresh tomatoes. Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables everyday for better health. Canned, frozen or fresh - it's the Alaskan way to 5 A Day!

Improve Your Game!

Did you know that fruits and vegetables give you the quick energy and fluid you need when you're active? Grab a box of raisins or open a can of fruit for a pre-game snack. Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables everyday for better health. Canned, frozen or fresh - it's the Alaskan way to 5 A Day!
