In the Chinese Zodiac, 2005 is the Year of the Rooster. In Alaska, the Governor has proclaimed 2005 the Year of the Booster – Adult Immunization Awareness Campaign. In response to a diphtheria outbreak in Alaska in 1975, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services conducted a massive immunization campaign. Over 180,000 people received Td vaccine. Because a booster dose of Td vaccine is recommended every 10 years, reminder campaigns have occurred in Alaska every decade since 1975. The 2005 campaign, the Year of the Booster, is designed to focus attention on adult immunizations, encourage Alaskans to check the status of their immunizations, and support efforts by providers to immunize adults. During 2005 the Alaska Immunization Program is providing syringes, alcohol wipes, cotton balls, and bandages free of charge with all Td vaccine orders. Special Year of the Booster promotional materials are also available at no charge during 2005. Please use this order form to request more materials.
