The Alaska Division of Public Health has three programs targeted for prevention and control of cancer:
Cancer Control and Prevention
Cancer is characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. There are over 100 different types of cancer. It is the leading cause of death in the state of Alaska. In the United States more than 1,500 people a day will die from cancer.
