Efforts
Since the December meeting, the ACDPA team has been meeting regularly to address each of the Action Plan’s strategies, which are organized by Aim. During these meetings the team collectively reviews progress toward each aim, revises old tasks and assigns new tasks as needed, determines whether the team membership is adequate, and considers ways to leverage existing and developing initiatives to help meet the Action Plan’s aims.
A few of the areas in which progress has been made are described below.
- The State hosted a Care Model training (meeting Powerpoints available in PDF), the purpose of which was to build competencies around improving chronic care in Alaska and learn about local providers’ experiences with applying this model in Alaska. The training culminated in a call to form a coalition to carry this movement forward.
- The provision of free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) to Alaska QuitLine callers was launched as a demonstration project. There has been a surge in both calls to the QuitLine and requests for NRT following media coverage of this additional service.
