WIC is available statewide. There may not be a WIC office in your village but there is one close that can serve you. If you don't know which WIC Program serves your village click here to find out.
WIC staff makes yearly visits to many Alaskan villages. Between visits the WIC application process is done through the mail. Your village health aides or Public Health Nurse will have WIC referral information and can help you apply for WIC by mail.
If your village has a WIC approved store you will receive WIC checks by mail to use there monthly. Be sure to follow the WIC directions for using the WIC check the right way. If your village does not have a WIC approved store, WIC will mail you a monthly box of nutritious foods.
If you have problems with mailed foods that are damaged or the store you use to cash WIC checks runs out of WIC foods, be sure to contact the state WIC office. Email: wic@health.state.ak.us , FAX: (907) 465-3416 or Phone: (907) 465-3100.
