The Southcentral region comprises the Southcentral communities of the Kodiak Island, Kenai Peninsula, and Mat-Su Boroughs as well as all the communities from Dillingham through the Aleutian Chain, along Prince William Sound, and on the road system through Glennallen.

As in the other regions of the state, there is an increased emphasis on Balanced and Restorative Justice. Programs ranging from Probation Officers in the Schools to community-based collaboration with the Weed and Seed project highlight FY99 efforts in Anchorage. In the Mat-Su Valley an innovative truancy program and the continuing success and development of the region’s Youth and Community courts represent just a few of the successes outside of the Anchorage bowl.

Anchorage, Mat-Su, Kenai, Homer, Valdez, Dillingham, and Kodiak offices all support local teen operated youth and community courts (the Dillingham office oversees the Togiak community court) and have had a substantial impact on the increase of cases handled by those alternative dispositions.
