The Medical Care Advisory Committee (MCAC) is a public advisory group charged with advising the State's Medicaid agency, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, on Medicaid policy and program changes.

Section 1902 (a) (4) of the federal Social Security Act (Title XIX) requires that each state establish a Medical Care Advisory Committee to advise the Medicaid agency in order to obtain federal matching funds for the Medicaid program.

The MCAC members meet quarterly via teleconference with the exception of one face-to-face meeting held annually. This annual meeting enables the Committee to visit a rural community to focus attention on Medicaid issues in that community.  Members gain insight into site specific issues from the community perspective as they visit facilities and meet with local providers and consumers. A meeting room for teleconferences is available in the DHSS Health Care Services Conference Room in Building L of the Anchorage Business Park to facilitate attendance by local members and encourage the public to attend.

The Anchorage Business Park is located at 4501 Business Park Blvd. (Building L, Suite 24).
