Juneau Alliance for Mental Health

Residential Counselor I - Juneau Alliance for Mental Health is looking for a flexible person to provide coverage for Residential Counselors taking leave and holiday time. The usual workweek will include two 24-hour shifts but the assigned workdays will change depending on coverage needs. Applicants should be effective in crisis management. Duties include monitoring client activities and medications, coordination with other agencies and personnel, teaching living skills, support with housekeeping, and documentation.

Must possess valid Alaska driver's license and clean driving record. References and background check required. Bachelor degree in the human service field and/or experience working with adults with mental illness preferred but not required. Alaska Alliance for Direct Service Careers - Agencies serving the beneficiaries of the Alaska Mental Health Trust are finding it increasingly difficult to recruit and retain a workforce with the skills and experience necessary to provide quality services. The shortage of direct service staff in the developmental disability, mental health, substance abuse, and aging fields is at crisis level in Alaska. The need to do more with less, changes in employee expectations, a tight job market and the aging of the American workforce are all contributing factors to this problem.

Alaska Primary Care & Rural Health Unit works to increase access to primary care services for people in health professional shortage areas and medically underserved areas by assisting with recruitment and retention of culturally competent clinicians. Staff within the unit work closely with staff within the Bureau of Primary Health Care, Division of National Health Service Corps (NHSC) and the Division of Scholarships and Loan Repayments (LRP) to create linkages between Alaskan communities and clinicians. Staff within CHEMS also help support national objectives by administering various incentive programs to clinicians and underserved communities. Application - HPSA Locations
