Totem Square Construction and Upgrade
Project background information:
The formal project name is Sitka Pioneer Home Totem Square Safety Upgrades. The Division of Finance and Management Services, Facilities Section will manage the project. Work is scheduled to begin in late September or early October, and is due to be completed before next summer’s tourist season.
The Health & Social Services department is responsible for the maintenance of Totem Square as part of an agreement with the Department of Natural Resources, which owns the land. The maintenance agreement was made when the departments worked together on an application to put the square and the adjacent Sitka Pioneer Home on the National Register of Historic Places.

Check here for construction updates on safety upgrades and other improvements to Totem Square. New information will be added as it becomes available. Construction is due to run from fall 2009 to spring 2011.
