Workforce Development
Over the next five years our focus will be to affect change in the following areas:
- Develop formal educational opportunities for behavioral health workers:
Support the University of Alaska Behavioral Health training academy.
Expand scholarships for behavioral health care providers to obtain certification.
Expand cross disciplinary classes for certification and degrees.
- Support training for the new DHSS waiver to provide community-based care for children with an SED and a fetal alcohol spectrum disorder through UAA:
- Initial training for new provider agencies in the model at the University of Alaska.
- On-going mentoring for waiver providers.
- On-line classes for new staff.
- Establish the capacity to train, monitor, and mentor providers in wraparound service planning and coordination. Develop in-state trainers and link this capacity to each regional team.
- Develop capacity to screen, assess and treat young children with behavioral health problems and their families. Establish a project coordinator, a learning collaboration and grants to train service providers.
